Patricia Harper, flutist Greensville, South Carolina, June 1-6, 2008 These are residential courses for flute players (age 17 and over), teachers, and serious amateurs interested in a focused week of flute study and ensemble opportunities. Selections from the standard repertory and pedagogical materials will be covered. Players at all levels of proficiency are encouraged to apply. Each class will be limited to nine participants. The goal of the course will be to provide a stimulating and challenging week of concentrated flute study for players who seek the opportunity to spend a focused period of time working on their playing and finding ways to improve it. Participants can expect to play daily. A recital is planned for the final Friday evening. All participants will perform solo works and in ensembles in that concert. These classes' popularity has rested on their small size and on the personal attention given to each participant. The atmosphere is both enthusiastic and supportive. Adult amateurs, as well as freelance players and flute teachers, have been regular attendees to the classes. Mature high school students and college-age players have also found the programs rewarding.
